Conditions of Love

Conditions of Love is a short film inspired by 'Conditions of Love The Philosophy of Intimacy' by John Armstrong. ‘What is it to love another person?’ John Armstrong explores how our perception of love is formed by culture and history.
Love is one of humanity’s most persistent and esteemed ideals, but it is hard to say exactly what this ideal is and how―if at all―it relates to real life.
Using John Armstrong's theory, I applied it to the everyday life of a queer teenage girl's life. This film explores the different facades of the protagonist's struggles due to the different types of conditions of love - for certain expressions of love may not be as endearing as one may seem. I aimed to raise awareness of the importance of support given to young members of the LGBTQ+ society from their loved ones.
